Kitchen Sink Cookie Recipe
When it comes to baking I tend to struggle in that area. That is why I love to make these everything but the kitchen sink bars, they are simple and I don’t have to stress about making something sweet and salty when I want it. Seriously, if I can make these you can too.
It only takes you 10 to 15 minutes to put everything together and then the cookie bars are ready to go into the oven.
Ingredients:
1 ½ cups flour
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1 teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon salt
½ cup brown sugar
¼ cup sugar
1 stick (1/2 cup) butter, melted
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
½ cup dark chocolate chips
½ cup semi sweet chocolate chips
¼ cup caramel pieces
½ cup chopped pretzels
How to make Kitchen Sink Cookie Bars
- I always preheat my oven when I am baking. You will want to set the temperature to 350 degrees. Then you want to prep your pan by lining an 8×8 pan with parchment paper.
- Then you can combine the dry ingredients in a medium bowl. Whisk or use a fork to thoroughly combine. Then set the dry ingredient bowl aside.
- Next you will want to grab a large bowl for your wet ingredients. Beat the butter and sugar together. Add the eggs and vanilla and beat until the wet ingredients are combined.
- This is when you can now add the dry flour mixture to the wet butter mixture. Beat to combine.
- Do not beat the chocolate chips, caramel, and pretzels. Fold them in. Make sure to combine wll. Reserve a small amount of each ingredient for sprinkling on top of the cookie bars, if desired.
- This part gets a little messy. The batter will be sticky but you will want to pour it into your 8×8 pan that you lined with parchment paper. Then spread the batter in the pan. Top with the reserved sweets.
- Depending on your oven and elevation, you will want to bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until the center of the cookie bars is set. Please be mindful that everyone’s oven is not the same. Make sure to check the center for doneness.
- Remove from the oven. If you can, allow to cool to room temperature before slicing. I have teens so this almost never happens.
Expert Pro Tips
Be sure that you line your pan with parchment paper. Leave some of the paper outside of the pan so that you have handles to grab on to when you are removing the cookie bars. It will make it so much easier and allow them to cool faster.
If you like you can add a little pinch of salt to the top right when they come out the oven, which will give it a little extra salty and you can taste the sweet just a bit more too. I know that they pretzels have salt as well, so you don’t have to add the salt to the top, but you to make your kitchen sink cookies with pretzels, it’s a must.
