- Flour, you will need both whole wheat and all-purpose flour
- Salt, pink Himalayan salt
- Sourdough discard
- Oil, olive
How To Make Pita Bread With Sourdough Starter (Using Discard)
First, in a large bowl, combine whole wheat flour, all purpose flour, and salt.
Next, add oil and starter along with some of the water. Then, mix and knead the dough. Make sure to not overwork the dough. Add additional water as needed.
After that, put the dough in a bowl and allow it to rise. Then, punch the dough down. Carefully, form a ball of dough.
Roll the ball of dough out to be 6-6 ½ inches wide and about the thickness of two tortillas. Allow them to rest.
Next, heat a pan on a medium heat. If the heat is too low, then the pockets will not form.
Cook until the dough puffs up with air. Do not flatten.
Remove the whole wheat pita pockets from the pan and set aside. Do not stack the pita bread.

- In a large bowl, combine dry ingredients such as whole wheat flour, all-purpose flour, and salt.
